The night-time curfew in Mon State’s Thaton Township has been relaxed since October 27, according to a statement from the Township General Administration Department.
The curfew was formerly set from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., but it has now been imposed from 12 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Locals believe that the change in curfew hours is related to the Thadingyut Festival in Thaton Township.
During the coup, the military council changed the night-time curfew in Thaton Township from 8:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.
A local resident told Than LwinTimes that the change in curfew would make commuting easier, but the ban on two men riding together on the same motorcycle would still be an issue.
Beginning October 6, the military regime issued a local order prohibiting two males from riding on the same motorcycle in Thaton, as well as men from riding behind a woman-driven motorcycle.
