Kyaikto, 9 November
A police informant was shot and killed around 9:00 pm on November 7 in Mayanchaung Village, Kyaikto Township of Mon State, said locals.
Ko Lwan Wai, a 43-year-old police informant, was on his way home on his motorcycle alone on Khalon-Supanu Road in Kyukta Township when two unknown gunmen shot him.
Ko Lwan Wai received gunshot wounds to the neck, arms and thighs and was taken to the Kyaikto Township Public Hospital.
According to local residents, Ko Lwan Wai cooperated with the police to spy on the members of the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) during the coup during the coup.
Military lobbyists’ Telegram accounts are spreading rumors that the Karen National Union (KNU) and the PDF assassinated Ko Lwan Wai.
The spokesperson of Thaton-PDF officer told Than Lwin Times that they did not kill Ko Lwan Wai.
Soldiers, police, administrators, and informants were frequently targeted in Kyaikto since the coup, and the military council issued a local order prohibiting two men from riding on the same motorcycle.
