Local resistance forces launched an attack on the Kyaukme Taung police station in Dawei township, Taninthayi region, an official from Dawei People’s Defense Forces told Than Lwin Times.

 The junta camps were being attacked early in the morning on 23 November.

 At present, due to the fierce exchange fires, the details of the situation on the ground are not yet available, said the information officer from Dawei People’s Defense Forces.

Locals have also claimed that a pregnant woman and a child from Taungthonelone village were killed when the Kyaukme Taung police station under the military council opened fire with heavy weapon shelling.

The fighting has forced the residents of Kyaukme Taung village, Hinda village and Taungthonelone village to flee for safety.  

Nearly 150 civilians were killed due to the junta ground attack, heavy weapons and airstrikes in Taninthayi, where the armed resistance is strong, according to AAPP.
