Yebyu, 8 December

The junta army arrested more than 100 local residents from Zee Kya village in Tanintharyi Region’s Yebyu Township, beating the men, locals told Than Lwin Times.

A military column of around 50 troops arrived in Zee Kya village on the morning of December 6 and arrested the local people.

Then, the regime troops interrogated them about the attacks on the toll gate and the new Dawei prison.

The junta released more than 90 local residents in the afternoon, but seven youths were taken to the construction site of the new Dawei prison. But they retreated after releasing them in the evening.

The revolutionary forces set fire to the construction site of the new Dawei prison on December 3, and a similar attack was made on the toll gate that collects road usage fees on December 4.

Nearly 2,000 civilians have been arrested by the military council for various reasons in Tanintharyi Region since the coup, according to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).
