A junta aircraft bombed near Lai Zar Town in Kachin State, where the headquarters of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) is located, Colonel Naw Bu, the spokesperson of KIO, told Than Lwin Times.
The fighting has been raging between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and junta forces that invaded near Lai Zar since early July.
The regime forces launched an aerial assault around Nam San Yan village in Waingmaw Township around 11:00 p.m. on July 27.
On July 25, there were at least three clashes between the KIA and the junta army, which were conducting military preparations, at three locations on the Myitkyina-Bamaw Road.
“At the moment, the junta army is still conducting military operations near Nam San Yang village in Waingmaw Township, so the military situation remains tense,” said Colonel Naw Bu.
On July 21 night, the military council bombed Nam San Yang village. An explosion occurred near the village administration office and the Catholic church, destroying the building and killing four cows.
According to local media reports, three ships have recently been seen providing security for six warships transporting military weapons and food supplies along the Ayeyarwaddy River from Mandalay to Kachin State.
The Lai Zar District Administration Office issued a warning on July 4 to warn the public to be cautious as clashes may break out at any time amid the military activities of the junta army.
People are advised to avoid the Bamaw-Myitkyina road as much as possible and to listen to military news if they have to go by car, motorcycle, or foot.
The statement also said that people are to avoid areas near the military council army and areas where violence frequently occurs, not to assist the military council army with personnel or material support, and not to be exploited by the military council.
