Tanintharyi, 15 October
The local defense forces have warned the people to strictly follow the rules outlined in the statement as the fighting between the two sides may become more intense in the Tanintharyi region in the coming monsoon season.
Tanintharyi has recently seen clashes between the two factions since September.
The recent fighting has been more of a raid by the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) than an invasion by the regime forces.
An official of the PDF in Tanintharyi said, “The National Unity Government (NUG) has designated this year as the decisive year for the revolution, so there will be more offensive attacks in the spring season.
As a result, members of the revolution urge the people to keep track of battle news and prepare to flee to safety in the event of a battle.
In Tanintharyi, at least 50 clashes occurred in Dawei, Launglon, Thayetchaung, Ye Phyu, Tanintharyi, Kawhtaung and Palaw townships in September, and both sides were injured or killed.
More than 50,000 local people have been displaced by the fighting and are in need of humanitarian assistance, according to statements of aid groups.
