Kim Aris told the international media that the military council has not yet allowed him to communicate through letters with his mother, State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
Kim Aris has requested the relevant authorities to allow him to communicate with his mother through other means, including written communication, but he has yet to be granted permission.
Kim has been denied the right to visit her mother, who is imprisoned in Nay Pyi Taw, and the right to send other medical supplies.
The military council did not allow Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to meet anyone, including family members.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was last seen by her legal team in December, and the lawyer’s team asked the authorities to allow them to meet for her cases, but they rejected it.
The military said at the end of October that they would consider if Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s son requested an official meeting with his mother, but in practice they refused.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who was serving a 33-year prison term for 19 cases, was reduced to six years on August 1 for two cases under Article 25 of the Natural Disaster Management Law, Section 67 of the Communications Law, Section 8 of the Export and Import Law, and Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, but her right to contact her family members was still barred.
