Belin, April (5)
The ambush attack on a military convoy on the Yangon-Mawlamyine road between Thabyay Ni and Ah Luu villages in Mon State’s Belin Township on April 4 injured four junta soldiers, the KNU’s Allied Supervisory Committee told Than Lwin Times.
At around 9 a.m. yesterday morning, a five-vehicle military convoy traveling from Kyaikto to Thaton was attacked by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 3 with heavy and small weapons.
The two sides exchanged fire for nearly half an hour, and the combined force of the KNLA was reportedly able to withdraw successfully.
After the attack, the military council threatened to burn down Thabyay Ni and Ah Luu villages, according to local residents.
On March 29, after the military convoy was attacked on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway near Alu village, soldiers fired indiscriminately, destroying nearly 40 homes and killing one resident and injuring another.
The junta convoys are frequently attacked between Thabyay Ni and Ah Luu villages in Belin Township, injuring or killing civilians.
