Loikaw, April (28)
The Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) has said it will organize an Administrative Committee as soon as possible as it does not want to accept the people’s administrative body of the National Unity Government (NUG) in Karenni State.
On April 26, the KNPP, an ethnic armed group, stated that the formation of an administrative body in Karenni State by the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Representative Committee (CRPH) and NUG’s Department of Home Affairs and Immigration without consultation with others is unacceptable.
Therefore, the Karenni State’s Administrative Committee will be established as soon as possible and will collaborate with the revolution forces, U Aung San Myint, the second secretary of the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) said.
“We have declared that we do not support the formation of an administrative body. An Administrative Committee will be organized as soon as possible for our state. We’ve also expressed a wish to collaborate with the existing ethnic armed groups’ administrative structures,” added he.
The formation of a public administrative body in Karenni State is in opposition to the Federal Democratic Unit drafted by the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC).
However, the KNPP says it will continue to work with NUG and NUCC, both of which have the same goal of overthrowing the military dictatorship.
The Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) is a non-signatory to the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).
