Palaw, June (18)
A civilian was killed in a clash that broke out between the two rival forces near Pawutkon village in Tanintharyi Region’s Palaw Township, the information officials of Battalion 1 of Myeik District told Than Lwin Times.
On June 17, at 2:00 p.m., the battle broke out when regime troops opened fire on local defense forces inspecting passenger vehicles near Pawutkon village.
In 10-minute battle, 40-year-old Ko Wunna Toe, who was driving a car carrying gravel from Tanintharyi, died of a gunshot wound on the spot.
The body was reportedly picked up by a family member.
After the gunfire, the junta vehicle fled towards Palaw town, and no members of the revolutionary forces were hurt in the shooting, said the source from Battlion 1 of Myeik District.
Since the military coup, there have been frequent clashes between the junta army and the revolutionary forces in Palaw Township, where martial law has been imposed, with the military council relinquishing some areas.
