Two locals injured by junta’s reckless firing in Kyaikto

The two villagers were injured when the regime troops fired mortar shell into Hle Lan Ku village of Kyaikto Township, Mon State on January 6.

Around 8 pm on that day, the Light Infantry Battalion 207 from Theinzayat Township fired 10 mortar rounds into Hle Lan Ku village.

The two mortar shells fired by the junta army exploded in Hle Lan Ku village.

The shell landed on U Kyaw Myint’s roof, injuring both U Kyaw Myint, 60, and a 17-year-old girl.

The residents took the injured to Kyaikto hospital.

The regime troops fired heavy weapons against villages in Kyaikto Township in December, damaging 14 local homes, the KNU reported.
