Airstrike of junta hit a timber production site of local people in Bawlakhe Township, Kayah state, on 23 March evening, killing three men out of nine injured in the incident, according to the report of Karenni Human Rights Council.
The junta troops are trying to control Bawlakhe, which is the major route to Thanlwin river, intensifying clashes with local resistance forces.
“Bawlakhe is a strategic area for them to have access to Thanlwin river. So, they are conducting offensive attack on the resistance force controlled area,” said U Banyar from KHRC.
He continued to say that the military columns fired motor shelling to Yenipauk and Moehtan villages in Bawlakhe Township, damaging 20 houses and one monastery, while the locals were forced to displaced from their houses.
In the past two years of coup, the junta carried out 197 airstrikes, according to the report of Progressive Karenni People Force (PKPF).
