One person was killed and five others were injured when a hijet and a passenger vehicle collided on the Yangon – Mawlamyine road near the tire factory of Kyauk Yedwin village in Belin Township, Mon State, the rescue team told Than Lwin Times.

On the morning of April 8, a hijet leaving Kyaikto and a passenger bus coming from Mawlamyine collided near a tire factory.

The hijacker attempted to pass the car in front of it, but was unable to control its speed and collided with a passenger vehicle on the opposite side of the road.

The hijet driver, Ko Khant Kyaw, died on the spot; three women in the hijet car and two men on the passenger bus were injured.

According to reports, one of the three injured women was brought to the Thaton District Public Hospital after suffering a critical injury.

Accidents often occur on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway, causing injuries or deaths to travelers.
