Mawlamyine, 8 June
An earthquake with 4.9 Richter scale, centering 5 miles south-southeast of Nyaungdone Township at the depth of 10 kilometer, caused some damages at a pagoda and a building of meditation center in Maubin Township, Ayeyawady region on 7 June evening.
The pagoda’s diamond bud and the façade of nearby Moegoke meditation center collapsed. A nun and a woman died in the collapse of building
A local in Maubin Township said to Than Lwin Times, “The diamond bud of Shwebonemyint pagoda dropped down, the façade of Moegoke meditation center collapsed, causing the deaths of a nun and a woman. The front of a building at the Maubin University was destroyed.”
The jolt was suffered in other townships of Ayeyawaddy region and some townships of Yangon region.
Aftershocks also happened in many townships of Yangon around 4 pm, and 5 pm.
The devastations have not been reported in other townships of Ayeyawady region.
