Ten regime troops were killed in the attack on Pauk Taing checkpoint in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei Town, said local resistance forces.
Around 5 a.m. on November 26, the local defense forces led by Dawei District’s Battalion 1 launched an attack on Pauk Taing checkpoint, where around 30 junta troops were deployed.
The attack triggered an hour-long clash between the two warring forces, killing 10 junta soldiers and some sustained injuries, an official from Dawei Battalion 1 told Than Lwin Times.
The artillery shell fired by the junta army destroyed a house in Pauk Taing village, but no one was injured, said a spokesperson from the Nway Oo Guerilla Force.
The regime troops have been arresting, interrogating, and killing civilians, as well as taking valuable items in Dawei.
The revolutionary forces have urged soldiers in Dawei to defect from the military council, which is about to collapse.
After the shooting at the Eain Shae Pyin checkpoint in Dawei Township on November 15, the junta has increased security in Dawei and is conducting arrests and inspections, according to local residents.
