Mawlamyine, 16 December
Military council has issued a local order to limit the time allowed to pass through the Taung Waing mountain road in Mawlamyine, Mon State due to the security situation, said locals.
On December 14, the General Administration Department of Mawlamyine announced that Taung Waing mountain road is only allowed to be used between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. every day according to the current situation.
Locals believe that the restriction of road use may be due to the attack on the Mawlamyine-based Southeastern Command of the military regime.
Mawlamyine Taung Waing mountain and Taung Nyo Mountain are located on the same ridge and bordered by the South-Eastern Command, along which regime troops set up camps and lay in ambush.
The Southeastern Command was attacked by a drone on December 1st by the revolutionary joint forces, and it was attacked at least three times during the coup.
For the time being, the military council has increased security in Kyaikmaraw, Mudon adn Mawlamyine, which have access to the Southeastern Command, and is conducting continuous checks at the entrances and exits of the towns, according to local residents.
