Yangon, 26 June

Military council has ordered removal of over 100 squatter houses in 56 and 70 wards of South Dagon township, Yangon as the houses are located on the land of municipality of Yangon city, locals said to Than Lwin Times.

These squatters have received ID cards during the NLD government.

“It is very inhumane order to remove in rainy season. We are afraid of their violent attacks, “ said a local.

The houses were built in the bamboo grove on farmland area, and they have been living there since President U Thein Sein’s government.

While the son of junta chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing is acquiring military owned lands in very cheap prices, the military is removing squatters from state-owned lands and destroying houses of squatters in Yangon and Mandalay.

The National Unity Government has objected the military’s oppressions on these issues, and pledged to work for justice and rehabilitation of the people who lost their property under the military regime.
