Nearly 110-year-old school building burnt down in Mon state’s capital

About 110-year-old school building in Mawlamyine township, Mon state, was burnt down at about 3: 30 am on 25 October.

The  building, locally knowna as U Thar Hnyin Religious Community Hall, in the compound of state high school in Panbedan ward, was ablaze second time in two months, destroying the entire structure.

The fire was under control around 5:30 am, a witness told Than Lwin Times.

Local residents remarked it was an arson attack, but the local fire services department has not made any announcement yet.

On 3 August, office of headmaster, a central building and a three-storey building were set fire at the same school.
